Dance Tech has changed its name to Dance Tech Academy to reflect the ongoing efforts of the dance school to educate its students in performance art. Watch for the new website, Facebook page, and other announcements about exciting changes at Dance Tech. 


From the Academy Director…
We have our first performances this month, and I’m looking forward to seeing all of the dances. I know this year is going to be great and you have the ability to be a profound influence in the community. As dancers, you affect so many lives and bring joy to our audiences. I believe the possibilities of this school are limitless, and together each of us can be the best. Choosing to be a dancer means sore muscles, tender feet, and endless practices. I know that each of you has made a commitment to the discipline of dancing, and it shows. I have every confidence in you, and I know that we succeed as a dance school because of efforts you make.

~The first competition will be at Blackfoot HS on Nov. 20th for the BlanKanvas Company.
~Start planning for the annual Dance Tech Holiday Benefit Concert to be held Dec. 6 at Hillcrest HS Performing Arts Center. Tickets for reserved seating are $5 and they will go on sell at Dance Tech Academy Nov. 22. All of the classes mentioned previously, plus all Combo Tech, Hip Hop, Cheer, DT Juniors and DT Minis will perform at this concert, plus guest performances by Idaho Idol contestants.
~Please make sure your children come to all classes and practice at home, so they will be ready to do their best at these upcoming performances.
~Dance costumes are arriving, but we won’t send them home until the costume fees have been paid. Once you receive the costume please make sure it fits, then write your child's name on all pieces and hang them in a safe place together where they won't get wrinkled, dirty, played with or lost.
~Thanksgiving Break will be Wednesday, Nov.24 to Saturday, Nov. 27.

Welcome to the 2010-11 season at Dance Tech!

The first week of classes are a little chaotic, but we are excited to see everyone and meet the new students. Dancing, cheer leading, and tumbling is good for your health, coordination, grace and confidence; for adults and kids. The other benefits is it gives kids something fun to do with their time, and helps them stay away from unhealthy addictions such as video games, television, drug use, etc. That is why at Dance Tech we love dance! 

Parking at Dance Tech

Please remember to leave the handicapped parking spaces open for those customers who possess a “Handicapped” permit. Also, avoid parking behind other vehicles, and avoid parking in the area that connects to the other side of the parking lot, thus blocking the way to get out. Always be cautious and watch for children being picked up or dropped off. 

New Incentives and Classes

Word-of-mouth is our best form of advertising, so we want to give you an incentive to help us get students in our low enrollment  classes. For any new student who registers for a class and identifies you as the referral, DT will credit your account $15. There is no limit. To make it easier to convince people to register, tell them we will give them $5 off their registration fee when they write down your name as their referral. Classes we need more students in are Toddler C & A (ages 2-3) at 10:00 AM & Noon; JBT-B & C (ages 3-4) at 3:45 PM and 9:15 AM; JBT-1 & 3 (ages 4-5) at 9:15 AM & 12:30 & 5:00 PM; Beg. Clogging (ages 6-11) at 4:45 PM; Cheerleading (ages 5-14); Combo Tech I (ages 7-8) 6:30-7:30 PM; Pre-Team B (ages 6-7) 6:30-7:30 PM; Hip Hop III (ages 11-13) 4:30-5:30 PM & Boy’s Hip Hop II (ages 9-12) 5:30 PM; Youth & Teen Tap; and any of the Adult classes. Tell your friends!

New class this year for adults is our Ultra Turbo 90! Beginning September 13 at 6:00 AM fitness specialist Brooke Floyd will help you reach your fitness goals in 90 days. Whether you want to lose weight or bulk up, dedication to this intense workout program will give you results. Stop in at the desk to sign up for the class. If you have a child enrolled in a class at Dance Tech you will receive $8 off the monthly fee.

Zumba is on hold, but will start up again – soon. With that, several Dance Tech Instructors will be Zumba certified by Oct. 2^nd, so you will be able to join the Zumba party on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 PM.  Watch for other days and times we will be adding for those interested.

October 1:         All Toddler, JBT, Pre-Team, Combo Tech, Hip Hop & Cheer costume fees due

NEW SUMMER CLASSES

Have you heard about the great new classes offered at Dance Tech this summer? Parents and kids can now both get fit at the same time! Tuesday s and Thursday s at 8:00am to 9:00am is our new STROLLER FIT class for the Adults. It will be held outside, weather permitting, and is a great for moms or dads with babies to work-out, or Brooke will help you get fit even if you don’t have a baby!

At the same time drop off your children ages 3 to 9 for a KID’S FIT class with hula-hoops, jump-ropes, fit-balls, mats, etc. Kids will be having so much fun they won’t even know they are exercising!  

Receive ½ off your KID’S FIT class when you are enrolled in the STROLLER FIT class. Also parents receive an $8 discount off any adult class, if their child is enrolled in any other Dance Tech class! Note that our popular CARDIO/ WEIGHTS class has changed days to Mondays and Wednesday s at 6:00am to 7:00am. Or if you prefer evening class try our YOGA, MODERN/JAZZ, TAP, POLYNESIAN or ZUMBA classes.

Audition Results

Here are the results for Dance Tech’s 2010-2011 season! We could not have been more pleased with the talented dancers who auditioned, and we are so excited for this season! Please note that the final decisions were made with your dancer’s best interest in mind. Much thought went into this decision making process, and each dancer was placed where we feel he or she would benefit most. Each dancer has his/her own strengths and weaknesses. For example, some may be stronger in their technique, whereas others may be stronger in their expression. Ballet is the best way to improve technique. We recommend every dancer take a ballet class, even if it is not a requirement of the team on which they are placed. We have listed their recommended ballet level along with their team placement below. For those placed on DT Minis, DT Juniors, Jr. Hip Hop and Sr. Hip Hop, there will be a mandatory parent meeting on Wednesday, June 2 at 5:30pm at the studio. For those placed on the company (formerly known as Jr. Jazz, Sr. Jazz and DT Elite) the parent meeting will be at 6:30 that same evening. Those placed on Pre-Teams or Combo Techs will not have a parent meeting at this time, but should call the office as soon as possible to register for their suggested classes. Summer classes begin the week of June 7^th and go through July 30. Fall session classes begin August 30 go through May 2011. We congratulate you on your hard work, and look forward to having you continuing your dance education at Dance Tech!

Spread the word to all the experienced dancers (age 6 to 19) you know that auditions for Dance Tech's award winning competing teams and new competing Hip Hop teams, are this week. Starting tomorrow, May 25, 26, & 27, at Dance Tech Studio:

5:00-6:30 for 6 to 9 yrs.
5:00-7:00 for 10 and up.
7:00-8:00 for competing Hip Hop teams

The workshop is $15, and dancers will learn a short routine at the workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday, then audition with the routine, for a position on a competing team on Thursday. All dancers will be given suggested class placement. The auditions are held in a friendly, non-threatening environment and dancers leave happy.

Dance Tech’s competing teams have won numerous awards this year, and countless awards in the studio’s 24 year history!

May 2010 News

Dance Tech's season is coming to an end and we have an exciting month with recital and year end awards. Please read carefully and set your reminders so you won't miss anything. We hope you and your dancer have enjoyed the dance education received at DT and will want to tell their friends and continue next session. We enjoy teaching and watching DT’s students grow and improve.

All home practice points must be turned in by Fri., May 14th to be counted towards class party points.

Trophy fees for Combo Tech I, II, Hip Hop I, II, III, Toddlers, JBT's, and Pre-Team classes are now due.

All accounts must be paid in full in order for student to receive their awards.

Enroll now for summer classes and/or camps, and next fall to get the classes you desire; or audition for our competing teams May 25-27.
